Favorite Dog Hikes In and Around Las Vegas

Wynne Benti + Megan Lawlor

Annie Share the barking wild beauty that is Las Vegas with your best friend. With 105 hikes, walks and dog-friendly parks, FAVORITE DOG HIKES IN AND AROUND LAS VEGAS provides a years worth or more of hiking fun for the entire family!

Just beyond the edge of Summerlin listen to the rain cascade down the high cliffs of Red Rock National Conservation Area after an afternoon thunderstorm.

Walk a soft easy trail through shady groves of Arizona ash, across cool springfed streams on a ranch that once belonged to Howard Hughes. Watch big horn sheep on sandstone cliffs deep within hidden canyons. Visit water-filled catch basins built during the Great Depression by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Included are driving instructions, K9 water, trail descriptions with mileages and estimated round-trip completion times, difficulty ratings, on-leash or off-leash designations and more!

Native Las Vegan, Megan Lawlor, has hiked wild Las Vegas with with her dogs since she was a child. A member of one of the oldest families in Nevada, she is the daughter-in-law of one of Las Vegas' first outdoor women columnists. Wynne Benti, author of Favorite Dog Hikes In and Around Los Angeles and Climbing Mt. Whitney, has guided people and their dogs in the backcountry for twenty years. Benti cofounded the K9 Hiking Committee in the Sierra Club's largest chapter and has hiked more than 400 mountains in Nevada and the southwest, many with her dogs.
